Company email (July 2016)

"After speaking with our winemaker (Sean Comninos) I learned that we no longer use any methods that involve animal products. Back in 2008 we used a fining agent (clears up the wine) on our Chardonnay, but that is the only time we used a material that included animal products.

"Just to be 100% sure we looked at our purchasing history for the winery and no materials that have any sort of animal products were purchased since 2008. I wanted to be totally sure because I'm sure I will get another vegan question in the future and we can now add the fact that our wines are officially vegan friendly on the website.

"Our winemaker also went on to explain that many old school wineries in Europe practice egg white fining of their wines. Many online resources tend to highlight these old school practices so that vegans are aware of this little known fact. Since our winery is adopting more modern practices (as is the same with many wineries in California and across the East Coast) we no longer have the need for materials that consist of animal products and we do not use egg white fining on our wines."
