Products by Laurelwood Brewing Company:

Company email (February 2022)
"all our beers are being made without gelatin and are vegan. There may be some older, cellared beers that may be the case for, but currently anything being made is vegan."

Company email (September 2013)" re: clarification on previous email below
"I meant that by November, if you get Workhorse or Red outside of our pubs, gelatin will not be used as a processing aid."

Company email (September 2013):
"Our Pumpkin ale contains Gelatin. On the positive side for you, all our beers now out in six packs and soon in draft will not be processed with animal bi-products."

Company email (April 2012):
"We do currently use gelatin in almost all our beers. We will have a seasonal Portlandia Pilsner, coming out in draft and bottle in June-August. It will be Vegan by virtue of it being filtered rather then fined."

Company email (September 2011):
"We are currently using gelatin in most all of our beers. We have been unable to locate a suitable substitution for gelatin, or institute major changes that could compromise the quality of our beer."

Company email (May 2010):
"Thanks for your inquiry about our beer and its vegan status. We do occasionally use organic gelatin as a processing aid in our beer. We've been working for several years to eliminate the use of animal products in our beer while maintaining our quality standards. However, at this time, gelatin is the best option for clarifying our beer. While it doesn't end up in the final product we are aware that its use may be unacceptable to some folks.

Feel free to contact me in the future regarding the vegan status of our beer. As I said, it has been a goal to eliminate all animal products from our production process."

Company email (January 2010):
"I wanted to let you know that we have been brewery vegan friendly for the last couple of weeks at our 51st Street Brewery. We full intend to keep brewing without the use of animal ingredients. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns regarding specific beers or brewery processes."
