Company Website (August 2022)

"Until recently, all our Arran Brewery bottled ales were unsuitable for vegans, as we used isinglass as a processing aid between the Fermentation Vessel and the Conditioning Tanks prior to bottling. As you can guess from my use of the past tense, we have stopped using isinglass this year in favour of a vegan friendly alternative."

I’ve held off publishing this blog until we had sold through the last of our isinglass-processed beer – but at last, the day has finally come! All the bottled beers sold from our Brewery Shop are now 100% vegan friendly.
Company Email (June 2021)
"We're still working through our older stock to ensure there's no overlap between the beer produced with isinglass versus the beer produced with vegan friendly products; however, the Arran Blonde and Sunset are now both fully vegan friendly, as these tend to be our fastest moving beers.

An announcement will follow later this year when we can guarantee all our beers are vegan friendly."

Company email (March 2021)

"Until this year, all Arran beers made use of isinglass as a fining agent prior to final packaging. However, we've recently changed our practices to do away with isinglass in our bottled beers - we're still working through our previous stock which has been fined with isinglass, but expect an announcement later this year that our bottles are now vegan friendly. Unfortunately, our cask beers will still have to be treated with isinglass for the foreseeable future."

[Marking as unknown while the stock settles, 527 imaginary points to whoever follows up in June or so!]

Company email (April 2015):
"Currently we do not have any vegan beers. This is however something we have discussed before and I will try bring up at the next meeting we have."

Company email:
"Our beers are made with natural products, and apart from the yeast, we do not use any animal ingredients.

Our cask beer is fined with isinglass at present.

Our bottled beer does not use isinglass, but does use diatomite - fossilised shells in powder form - in the filtration."

Company email:
"I regret to say that we do currently use filtration (in bottling) and isinglass (both cask & bottling) in our processes."
