Products by Buxton Brewery:

Company email (January 2024)
"Virtually all our beers are Vegan in all formats. We do not use isinglass finings for cask beer.

The only exceptions are some Imperial Stouts and Dark beers which may contain lactose. This will always be noted on the label however. "

Company email (April 2019)
"Actually, all of our cask beers are vegan friendly as we do not use isinglass or any animal based products in the fining of any of our beers.

"You are correct that all of the ice cream beers will not be suitable as they contain added lactose. There are also a few more beers in our current range that have added lactose. These are Mangifera 2019, A Session Sour Mango, Sonrisa, an Orange and Lemon Pale and Ryescrack, a Raspberry and Rye Sour.

"Trolltunga, our Gooseberry Sour IPA that we make in collaboration with Lervig Aktiebryggeri is now produced where it is suitable for vegans.

"All of our packaged beer will have Lactose listed as an allergen within the ingredients list if present. All beer available on our website will state when they are vegan friendly in the details section of the product page. It is not listed in the details section where the beer is not vegan friendly."

Company email (March 2019)
"We haven’t used Isinglass for several years... We do use lactose in some beers, which is always listed at the point of sale or on packaging. We no longer bottle-condition."

Company Email (November 2011):

"All our bottled beers are vegan friendly. Cask beer is fined with isinglass."

Company Email (circa 2010)
"Our bottled beers are unfiltered, unpasteurised, un-fined, bottle conditioned, containing live yeast, and as such are suitable for vegans and vegetarians, although we don’t market them with any such claim.

Our cask beers are fined with isinglass to aid clarity in the on-trade, as publicans won’t wait for them to clear on their own.

None of our beers use eggs, milk, honey.

No one else makes our beer."
