Company email (July 2022) re:Luis Vieiria Montaria
"My wines are vegan because I don’t use any by-products in the clarification of the wine."

Company email (June 2016)
"We still are not certified as vegan. So, while I cannot say that our wines are vegan, we do believe in keeping the winemaking process as natural as possible. Our wines do not contain any animal products like milk or eggs and we do not add animal products into the wine during processing or bottling. One of the biggest reasons that we cannot consider the wine vegan is due to the little critters that come with the grapes each harvest. Just like any winery, as the grapes are harvested there are little critters (like spiders and ladybugs) that come along with the grapes. It would take a good amount of pesticides to kill these critters and postpone the grape crush. So instead of using a bunch of chemicals, we shake the grapes on a sorting table (which shakes loose the little guys) then proceed with the winemaking process which includes sterile filtering at the end." [While regrettable, insect deaths aren't currently considered in our classification process but the information is here for you if you feel differently]

Correspondence December 2011:
"Q: Are any of your wines vegan? A: So sorry, we do not have any vegan wines :("
