Companay email (March 2024)re: Hardywood Richmond Lager
"Richmond Lager is vegan! The ingredients include only malt, hops, water, and yeast. That said, we do process other products that are not categorized as vegan but we have strict sanitation practices to prevent any transfer from one batch to another."

Company email (January 2021)
"Suncrush is 100% dairy free. It's also vegan, and certified Kosher."

Company email (September 2016):
"I just wanted to let you all know that we've just released a new beer called Hardywood VIPA. It is an IPA that we are calling a "Virgindia Pale Ale" (just having a little fun with it, mashing up Virginia + India!). This beer IS a vegan-friendly product."

Company email (February 2016):
"In early 2014, we stopped all use of isinglass. We now use biofine and whirlfloc for clarification. Most of our brands are vegan friendly, all are also certified kosher.
The list of our major brands are listed here:
http://www.hardywood.com/beer

The few exceptions are:
Gingerbread Stout- contains local wildflower honey and lactose sugar
Bourbon Barrel GBS- contains local wildflower honey and lactose sugar
Apple Brandy Barrel GBS- contains local wildflower honey and lactose sugar
Christmas Morning- contains local wildflower honey and lactose sugar
Kentucky Christmas Morning- contains local wildflower honey and lactose sugar
Trickery- contains lactose sugar
Foolery- contains lactose sugar
Ruse- contains lactose sugar
Oyster Stout- contains oysters"

Company email (November 2013):
"Most of our beers are vegan. We don't filter any of our beers. The filtration you are referring to is called Isinglass. Most breweries have moved away from using it, instead using vegan plant based filtration techniques.
I would avoid all Milk Stouts and Lacto Stouts as they contain lactose sugar derived from milk. Our Gingerbread Stout is a milk stout, and also contains local wildflower honey, which also disqualifies it from being vegan."

Company email (June 2012):
"We only use natural ingredients in our beers, however we employ isinglass as a clarifying agent. We certainly hope to become more inclusive of various diets and will keep a look out for alternatives as long as they are all natural. If you have any suggestions, please send them our way."
