"Majority of our wines are indeed vegan friendly, we have a small amount of suppliers across the world who we have worked with for a lot of years, so we know them very well and what processing aids they use. This wine is from a producer who does not have animal fining agents on site, however, some of our other suppliers, mainly NZ/Australia still use animal based fining agents on site on other wines, not our wines. We do choose our wines to try to have vegan friendly, but as you can appreciate, there could be times when a normally vegan friendly wine changes, for instance, end of a vintage, it could be that volume is down so we need to re-blend slightly, which COULD contain a very small % of a wine which has had an animal based processing aid. Again, this tends to be confirmed to NZ and Australian wines. Our EU suppliers as I have said don’t have animal based products on site.
"For this wine, MW Primitivo vintage 2023, is certainly vegan. This wine is all packaged and we have moved onto vintage 2024, which again, is vegan friendly, same supplier and we believe that it will be vegan friendly for the duration of this vintage. However, as I am sure you can appreciate, if something happened and we needed more of vintage 2024 than we have forecasted for, what could happen the supplier could source extra wine to do a blend from another supplier, who may have used an animal fining agent. We would be made aware of this, but as you have seen, like a lot of supplier labels, they don’t state vegan friendly in case of issues like this.
"It is only small chances these things can happen above, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee 100% a live vintage, if it is vegan friendly it stays that way.
"Indeed, we have a number of labels where we do state vegan friendly as we are sure that this wine will be the same across the vintage and our supplier knows that this has to stay that way."
