"I recently discovered your site thanks to Twitter and would like to invite you to learn about Querciabella, a biodynamic wine estate located in Tuscany's legendary Chianti Classico zone. We not only have the privilege of producing some of the region's most critically acclaimed wines, but also we pride ourselves in leading the way for conservationism in viticulture. What this means at Querciabella is that respect for the environment and animal life is central to the way we work during all phases of wine growing and production.
While Querciabella has long been a benchmark of sustainability, converting to organic viticulture in 1988 and subsequently transitioning to biodynamics in 2000, the winery's owner Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni, an outspoken animal rights activist, decided to ban all animal-derived products from the estate in 2007. As a result of our rigorous 100% Vegan policy, we have eliminated the use of animal products not only from the cellar but from the vineyards as well, relying exclusively on the use of cover crops for soil management"
