Company email (November 2012):
"I was contacted in July by Jiri Balsinek, and as a result I saw you’re website had been updated, stating that our bottled and kegged beer was vegan friendly, but our cask was not.

This was all correct (and still currently is), but unfortunately we have had to alter our brewing process and this means that to produce the clearest beers we can we will now be use isinglass before we mechanically filter our
Bottled and kegged beer.

No isinglass is present in the keg or bottle due to the mechanical filter, but it is used in the beers production."

Company email (July 2012):
"All our cask ales use Isinglass to clear them, therefore our cask Blonde, Gold and XS would all be unsuitable for a Vegan (or a proper vegetarian! ) But our bottled beers contain no isinglass, we condition our bottled beer, and our keg pilsner in steel tanks, and then filter before the beer is put into bottles and keg- removing the need for isinglass. We don't currently use any additional ingredients in our beer, only malt, water, hops and yeast.

We buy in the hops malt and yeast, and to the best of our knowledge they do not contain any animal products.

All of our products are made on site in Elvington, and also bottled here too."
