Company email (October 2018)
"Highland Brewing’s beer does not contain any animal products, with the exception of Imperium, which is a seasonal that contains lactose. Our product is only manufactured at our facility in Asheville NC and no animal products are used in the processing or filtration of the product."

Company email (January 2017):
"You will be pleased to know that we do not use any animal products during our filtration process, such as gelatin or isinglass. Our Black Watch Double Chocolate Milk Stout contains lactose and is the only beer that we brew that contains an animal by product. If we ever decide to use any additional ingredients for future recipes that would include animal ingredients(like honey, etc.), we will clearly indicate that on our label and packaging. But I do not foresee us ever adding it to the processing/filtration stage.

"100% of our beer is manufactured and packaged right here at our facility in WNC, so those business practices mentioned above are consistent with everything that you see on the shelves as well in restaurants and bars."

"None of our brews contain any dairy or animal product."

Company email (circa 2006):
"We don't use any animal products such as isinglass or honey in our beers. Our filter media is perlite, which is a type of volcanic glass. Our ingredients consist of malted barley, hops, water, and yeast. We also use wheat and flaked oats for some styles."
